The Board of Directors of AWF Madison Group Limited is responsible for the corporate governance of the Company. The term ‘corporate governance’ is generally understood to mean the control of the business by the Directors and the accountability of the Directors to shareholders and others, for the performance of the Company and compliance by the Company with laws and standards.

Our Board

Ross Keenan
Ross KeenanIndependent Chairman
Ross Keenan joined the AWF Group Board in 2004, prior to the company listing on the stock exchange, and was appointed Chairman in April 2005. He is an experienced company director, with corporate governance and executive experience across a diverse range of sectors including aviation, tourism, telecommunications, health and property development. Ross has extensive experience in the retail and wholesale water and wastewater services industry and previously served as the Chairman of Metrowater Limited and Watercare Limited. Ross is also a former Chairman of Ngai Tahu Tourism, Chairman of the Counties Manukau District Health Board and Deputy Chairman and all three Auckland Regional Health Boards.

Simon founded the Allied Work Force business in 1988 and has been its Managing Director for the past 27 years. He has been instrumental in growing the AWF Madison Group business from the single original office in Penrose through to listing as a public company and current market leading position as the largest full spectrum recruitment services provider in New Zealand. Simon is the founder and director of Multihull Ventures and is the skipper of Team Vodafone Sailing. He has substantial experience in property investment and is a director of the New Zealand Initiative..
Wynnis Armour

After a diverse and successful management career in both the private and public sectors, Wynnis sold a highly profitable retail venture and went on to co-found and develop the Madison Group. Madison was acquired by AWF Group in 2013 and Wynnis was appointed to the Group’s Board of Directors in December 2014; ensuring that her knowledge of both Madison’s operations and the wider trends within the recruitment sector continue to benefit the business. Wynnis is actively involved in mentoring and advising a group of businesses around growth, exit strategy, entrepreneurial activity and governance. On various formal and advisory boards, Wynnis also supports a variety of philanthropic interests. Her other current directorships include Armour Consulting, Maby Ltd and ArcAngels. She is a member of Global Women, a graduate of the University of Canterbury and an accredited member of the Institute of Directors.

    Nick joined the Board as an Independent Director in January 2018 after 15 years in Managing Director roles in New Zealand, Australia, and Asia/Pacific with Korn/Ferry Futurestep. Nick brings deep industry expertise in recruiting, outsourcing, and talent management with a global perspective. Nick was the CEO and Director of a start-up SaaS payments business Wrap It Up, which was sold in 2017, and is a Director of a private family property company. He is a Trustee on the Wellington Creative Capital Arts Trust, and was formerly on the Otago University Business School Board of Advisors. Nick is Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors.
    Laurissa Cooney

    Laurissa, who is of Te Āti Hau Nui a Pāpā Rangi (Whanganui) descent, joined the Board as an Independent Director in August 2020. Bringing experience in both governance and finance, Laurissa chairs the Board’s Audit, Finance & Risk Committee. Laurissa has previously held senior management, auditing and consulting roles with Deloitte in New Zealand, and Deloitte Touche in London, and was the CFO for Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi. She currently serves as the Chair of Tourism Bay of Plenty, and she is an Independent Director for Air New Zealand. She is also a Trustee on the Charitable Investment Trust for Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki. She also holds a role as an independent director on the Audit & Risk board of Nga Tangata Tiaki and was previously a committee member for the Institute of Directors Bay of Plenty Branch. In 2017 she was a recipient of the Institute of Directors Emerging Director Award. Laurissa is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants, and a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors in New Zealand.
    Simon Bennett

    Simon is an experienced business owner, director and manager. His career began in FMCG sales, then moved from the corporate sector to set up a wholesale food production business in the early 1990s. The business was successfully scaled and sold in 2007. In a consulting capacity he has been engaged by large listed NZ companies in property, retail and distribution. He has been a director of several businesses and is on the Board of Trustees for business incubator The Icehouse. Simon was appointed CEO of Madison in 2011 and became group Chief Executive following Mike Huddleston’s retirement in July 2015.
