The Board of Directors of AWF Madison Group Limited is responsible for the corporate governance of the Company. The term “corporate governance” is generally understood to mean the control of the business by the Directors and the accountability of the Directors to shareholders and others, for the performance of the Company and compliance by the Company with laws and standards.

Our Board

Ross Keenan
Ross KeenanIndependent Chairman
Ross Keenan joined the AWF Group Board in 2004, prior to the company listing on the stock exchange, and was appointed Chairman in April 2005. He is an experienced company director, with corporate governance and executive experience across a diverse range of sectors including aviation, tourism, telecommunications, health and property development. Ross has extensive experience in the retail and wholesale water and wastewater services industry and previously served as the Chairman of Metrowater Limited and Watercare Limited. Ross is also a former Chairman of Ngai Tahu Tourism, Chairman of the Counties Manukau District Health Board and Deputy Chairman and all three Auckland Regional Health Boards.
Simon Hull
Simon HullDirector
Simon founded the Allied Work Force business in 1988 and has been its Managing Director for the past 27 years. He has been instrumental in growing the AWF Madison Group business from the single original office in Penrose through to listing as a public company and current market leading position as the largest full spectrum recruitment services provider in New Zealand. Simon is the founder and director of Multihull Ventures and is the skipper of Team Vodafone Sailing. He has substantial experience in property investment and is a director of the New Zealand Initiative.

Eduard van Arkel
Eduard van ArkelIndependent Director
Eduard (Ted) joined the board in 2004. He is a professional independent director who brings over 40 years of experience, including as the Chairman or a director of a large number of public and private companies. Currently he is the Chairman of Restaurant Brands (NZ) Limited and Health Benefits Limited. Ted is also a director of listed company, Abano Healthcare Group Limited and several private companies including Philip Yates Securities Ltd, Danske Mobler Ltd, Lang Properties Ltd, Van Arkel & Co Ltd and Auckland Regional Chamber of Commerce. Prior to becoming a professional director, Ted was managing director of Progressive Enterprises Limited. He retired from that company at the end of 2004 after the successful integration of Woolworths (NZ) Limited. He is a patron of Youthtown Inc.
Julia Hoare
Julia HoareIndependent Director
Julia joined the Board in 2013, bringing a comprehensive range of commercial, financial, tax, regulatory and sustainability expertise, developed over the course of 20 years as a partner with PwC. She retired from the PwC partnership on 31 December 2012 to pursue a full-time corporate governance career. Julia is an independent director of Port of Tauranga Limited, Watercare Services Limited and New Zealand Post Limited. She is also the Deputy Chairman of The a2 Milk Company Limited. Julia is a fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and a member of the Institute of Directors. She is the former Chair of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants National Tax Committee and former member of the Statutory Panel appointed to review the Emissions Trading Scheme in 2011.
Wynnis Armour
Wynnis ArmourDirector
After a diverse and successful management career in both the private and public sectors, Wynnis sold a highly profitable retail venture and went on to co-found and develop the Madison Group. Madison was acquired by AWF Group in 2013 and Wynnis was appointed to the Group’s Board of Directors in December 2014; ensuring that her knowledge of both Madison’s operations and the wider trends within the recruitment sector continue to benefit the business. Wynnis is actively involved in mentoring and advising a group of businesses around growth, exit strategy, entrepreneurial activity and governance. On various formal and advisory boards, Wynnis also supports a variety of philanthropic interests. Her other current directorships include Armour Consulting, Maby Ltd and ArcAngels. She is a member of Global Women, a graduate of the University of Canterbury and an accredited member of the Institute of Directors.
Simon Bennett
Simon BennettChief Executive Officer
Simon is an experienced business owner, director and manager. His career began in FMCG sales, then moved from the corporate sector to set up a wholesale food production business in the early 1990s. The business was successfully scaled and sold in 2007. In a consulting capacity he has been engaged by large listed NZ companies in property, retail and distribution. He has been a director of several businesses and is on the Board of Trustees for business incubator The Icehouse. Simon was appointed CEO of Madison in 2011 and became group Chief Executive following Mike Huddleston’s retirement in July 2015.
